Occupational Therapy

Objective Performance and Health provides occupational therapy specifically for Australian Veterans, with a focus on prevention, performance, independence and meaningful participation in everyday life.

While rehabilitation following injury or illness is an important part of occupational therapy, support does not need to begin with an injury or diagnosis. Services can focus on building sustainable routines and habits, managing the demands of daily life, improving confidence and independence, and addressing barriers that may be limiting participation at home or in the community.

For Veterans transitioning from service or adjusting to civilian life, occupational therapy can support the development of new routines, roles and direction outside of the ADF, including reconnecting with community, establishing meaningful activities and adapting to changes in identity, lifestyle or capacity.

For Veterans requiring practical support at home, services may include activities of daily living, assistive technology and equipment prescription, home modification recommendations, falls prevention, routine development and strategies to maintain independence.

Whether navigating life after service, adapting to changing circumstances or wanting to remain independent at home in later years, intervention is centred on supporting Veterans to participate in the activities, roles and communities that matter to them.
